Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 14, 2026
Summary
viewlog is designed to be local-first.
- Your saved cards and review history are stored on your device.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not use your photos, screenshots, or generated cards for advertising.
- When you choose to scan an image with AI, the selected image and/or extracted text may be sent securely to an AI provider to generate learning cards.
What viewlog stores on your device
viewlog may store the following information locally on your device:
- saved words, phrases, meanings, examples, and learning cards
- review history and learning progress
- app settings and language preferences
- source image references, cropped images, or scan metadata depending on the feature
This data is stored locally on your device unless you use a feature that sends selected content off-device, such as AI Scan.
Photos and screenshots
viewlog may ask for access to your camera or photo library so you can capture or import images.
viewlog uses this access only to let you choose images to scan or save. We do not scan your entire photo library in the background. When possible, viewlog uses the iOS photo picker or limited photo access so you stay in control of what is shared with the app.
AI processing
When you choose to scan an image, viewlog may send the selected image and/or extracted text to an AI service to generate vocabulary cards, explanations, examples, or related learning content.
This processing is used only to provide the scan result. We do not sell your images, screenshots, extracted text, or generated cards. We do not use them for advertising.
Our current AI provider may include OpenAI. AI providers process submitted content according to their own terms and privacy commitments.
Analytics and diagnostics
viewlog does not currently use tracking for advertising.
If crash reporting or basic diagnostics are enabled, viewlog may collect limited technical information such as app version, device model, operating system version, and crash logs. This information is used only to improve app stability and does not include your saved cards or image contents.
Data retention and deletion
Data stored locally on your device remains there until you delete it or uninstall the app.
You can delete saved cards inside viewlog. You can also remove local app data by deleting the app from your device.
If you contact us for support, we may retain your email and support messages for as long as needed to respond and maintain support records.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as viewlog changes. The latest version will always be available at https://viewlog.app/privacy.
